Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s attempt to justify RA President Serzh Sargsyan is not quite clear. Any “inherited” problems could have been resolved during this period, Armen Martirosyan, Chairman of the Heritage faction, told NEWS.am.

“Whatever Serzh Sargsyan inherited, he remains responsible, he has absolute power and is able to improve the situation,” Martirosyan said. He does not think Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s speech contained “a note of electioneering.” The parliamentary elections are scheduled for 2012, and the situation may radically change in the country. The Armenian National Congress (ANC) led by Ter-Petrosyan does not seem to gave given up the idea of early elections, Martirosyan said.

He does not think that the criticism leveled at Ter-Petrosyan by Zhirair Sefilyan, the leader of the Miatsum (Unity) movement, is a signal to the ANC’s collapse. As regards the ex-president Robert Kocharyan’s prompt response to Ter-Petrosyan’s speech, Martirosyan accounts for it by “great mutual love.”

In his recent speech, Ter-Petrosyan tried to justify President Serzh Sargsyan. He stated that the incumbent President “inherited this all” from Robert Kocharyan.

Kocharyan promptly responded by comparing Ter-Petrosyan to a hunter attacked by a bear.
