60% of five leading European countries’ population (Germany, France, UK, Spain and Poland) consider that Turkey’s membership to EU is critical for its democratization. The survey conducted by European centre of Turkish University Bogazici jointly with Madrid University shows, CNNTurk informs.

Under the survey, 20% of the pollees scare of Turkish refugees living close by. Asked what symbolizes Turkey to their mind, 91% of the respondents replied Istanbul, and 70%-Galatasaray.

For 40% — it’s Ataturk, whereas for 11.5% — Nobel Prize winner Orhan Pamuk.

52% of the pollees would oppose Turkey’s membership to EU if referendum is conducted.
