“I think that Premier Tigran Sargsyan’s decision to join the Republican Party of Armenia is quite right as he is a member of our team, a Premier we have elected, who has made up his mind and joined our party,” Head of the RPA faction Galust Sahakyan told NEWS.am, He does not see any sensation or necessity for political analyses in the Premier’s decision.

As to the reasons why Tigran Sargsyan, whose premiership has been marked by an 18.3% economic decline has all of a sudden been made a RPA member, Sahakyan said: “We do not agree with this remark. I do not think that the Premier’s joining the party has anything in common with his work. It is his choice, as we welcome it.” As regards the fact that the economic decline in Armenia has even been more than in Ukraine despite the serious political and economic problems in that country, the RPA Vice-Chairman said: “Ukraine was not supposed to have any decline at all, as that country has all ways in all directions. Armenia is a landlocked country, and it has tasks that are incomparable with the ones of other states,” Sahakyan said. He stated, however, that, despite faults and criticism, Armenia will overcome the crisis with credit.

As to what changes have taken place in Armenia after the Premier joined the RPA, Sahakyan said that “it should not be linked with the country’s life, but it may scale up his political activities.”

As regards Premier Sargsyan’s greater responsibility in connection his statements like “finding our own ocean” or “the Armenian World”, Sahakyan said that “party affiliation is of no importance for a person of responsibility. The Premier has always considered our opinions, even when he was not a RPA member.”
