YEREVAN. – Deputy chiefs of the campaign headquarters of the ruling coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) will become known probably by the end of January, Armenian News-NEWS.am’s informed sources say.  

There are rumors that the likely candidates for this position include Chairman of the National Assembly’s (NA) Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs, RPA MP Davit Harutyunyan, and Deputy PM and Regional Governance Minister Armen Gevorgyan. 

In an interview with Armenian News-NEWS.am, Harutyunyan noted that currently there is the headquarters’ chief alone, and the makeup is being clarified. “When the makeup is determined, we will discuss this matter,” he said. 

RPA Headquarters is expected to officially open in mid-February. 

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, Hovik Abrahamyan resigned from his capacity as NA Speaker to assume the position of Chief of RPA Campaign Headquarters. Afterwards, and on President Serzh Sargsyan’s November 3 decree, Mikayel Minasyan left the office of the First Deputy Chief of Armenia’s Presidential Staff to become Deputy Chief of RPA Headquarters. In an interview with Armenian News-NEWS.am, Minasyan said he is going to the help Abrahamyan in properly preparing for the upcoming parliamentary elections, and added that this is the order of the day.
