Englishmen are counting the cost of the devastation to their homes after torrential rains that caused flooding in the country. The Cumbria region (northern England) was worst hit November 20.

Hundreds of people were rescued from their homes. According to meteorologists, over 250mm of rain fell in some regions.

PC Bill Barker, 44, died after a bridge was swept away by flood waters, Telegraph reports.
