YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Ministry of Agriculture from now on will conduct monitoring to check drug residue in animal products.

The Government on Thursday adopted a decision to that effect. According to the Ministry’s respective program, this “residue” refers to those pharmaceutical drugs which, being injected into the sick animal, partly remain in the meat prior to the slaughter, and therefore could be a health hazard.

Another main objective of this monitoring will be to discover unlawful medical treatments, or the overinjection of animals.
