November 27, 2009 governor of Afghan Kandahar Province survived a murder attempt, when the explosive targeting his convoy detonated when he was going to attend Friday prayers to mark the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha, msnbc website reports referring to Associated Press.

The explosion damaged Turyalai Wesa's car, however the governor was unharmed, the source informs.

One policeman was wounded as a result of the blast.
