YEREVAN. – Armenia’s 750 first- and second-year state-run university students—who are not included in the free education system, but have demonstrated an academic excellence and come from socially disadvantaged families—received scholarships from the Youth Foundation of Armenia. The Government had allocated AMD 60 million (approx US$ 154,960) to the Foundation in this connection. And PM Tigran Sargsyan personally handed the scholarship certificates to these students.

“Lack of financial means shall not become a reason for not receiving a higher education. From now on, our programs will be directed toward solving this problem,” Sargsyan said.

He also noted that reforms will be implemented in Armenia toward raising the quality of education, so it can meet international standards. He added that the policy of providing scholarships will continue.
