YEREVAN. – Armenian environmentalists organized protests to pass their message to Charles, Prince of Wales, the eldest child and heir apparent of British Queen Elizabeth II, who is in Armenian capital Yerevan city.

“British mining industry will kill us”, “STOP”, “Environmentalist Charles, join Armenian environmentalists” read the posters in front of the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts Matenadaran, which hosts British prince at the moment, reports Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The UK ambassador to Armenia Jonathan  Aves has already talked to the environmentalists protesting on the street. The envoy promised to pass the environmentalists’ letter to the Prince Charles and to organize a meeting between the protesting activists and the assistant of British prince.

 

“We are not against your struggle in any way, and we also say that Lidyan International would operate in accordance to the approved standards in the environmental field,” said the ambassador.

Prince of Wales visits Armenia as a guest of the Yerevan My Love Charitable Foundation. During his stay, the Prince of Wales will pay visits to Armenia’s most important historical monuments, and attend a gala concert and dinner for the benefit of the charity work aimed at preserving the cultural heritage of Armenia’s capital city Yerevan.
