YEREVAN. – Due to adverse weather conditions, two passenger planes, which were en route to Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan from the Russian cities of Mineralnye Vody and Rostov-on-Don, could not land at Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport.

Airport Public Relations Officer Gevorg Abrahamyan told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am on Saturday.

“At this point, there is not enough visibility for these aircrafts to land [in Zvartnots]; there is still heavy fog,” Abrahamyan informed.

He added, however, that there is no emergency and it is normal for a plane crew to decide to abort landing under low visibility.

Separately, Armenian government-affiliated General Department of Civil Aviation Press Secretary Ruben Grdzelyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the two aforementioned aircrafts will have to refuel and return to Yerevan.

In his words, it is not known when they will arrive in the Armenian capital city, and this will depend on the local weather conditions.

But Grdzelyan added that the weather is clearing, and the airport is returning to its normal operations.
