YEREVAN. – President of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Ara Babloyan, is in the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic/NKR) on a working visit.

In capital city Stepanakert, Babloyan on Friday met with European Parliament member (MEP) Eleni Theocharous from Cyprus, as well Cypriot MPs Giorgos Perdikis and Michalis Giorgallas, the NA informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

First, the Armenian parliament speaker lauded Theocharous’ personal efforts toward the expansion of Armenia-European Union relations, raising matters related to Armenia at the European Parliament, and protection of the rights of the Armenian people. 

Also, the NA chairman stressed that the Armenian delegations at international platforms always support Cyprus in key issues for this country, and added that this practice is mutual.

Eleni Theocharous, for her part, expressed a conviction that Cyprus always stands with Armenia and the Armenian people. In addition, the MEP noted that she will continue supporting Artsakh-related initiatives at the European Parliament, and being an advocate of the strengthening of Armenian-Cypriot relations.

And speaking about the recent political events in Armenia, Theocharous said they are amazed by the wisdom of the Armenian people.
