There are no persons with the procedural status of suspect or accused-on-trial in the criminal case being investigated by the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Armenia in regard to the case of anti-competitive practices linked to former Chief of Police of the Republic of Armenia Vladimir Gasparyan, the Special Investigation Service reported in response to the inquiry of NEWS.am.

However, the Special Investigation Service refused to answer the question on the procedural status of Vladimir Gasparyan in the case, stating that the Service can’t provide other details based on the interests of the preliminary investigation of the criminal case.

Vladimir Gasparyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that he would speak about the criminal case linked to him when he has a legal status.

According to Armenian News-NEWS.am, Vladimir Gasparyan has been interrogated as a witness during the preliminary investigation of the case.

On 18 December 2018, the Investigative Committee declared that the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia had obtained data in the criminal case under investigation in relation to the implementation of anti-corruptive practices and that in January and February 2012 (before the 2012 elections of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, the former Chief of Police of the Republic of Armenia (Vladimir Gasparyan was serving his term in that period), using his official position and powers contrary to the interests of his service, promised to interfere and help former owner of King Delux to solve problems with passenger transportation, if he supports the Republican Party of Armenia in the parliamentary elections. A criminal case had been instituted under the elements of part 2 of Article 308 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
