Two senior officials from the regional health committee were fired in the Chinese province of Hubei, Reuters reported.

Hubei health commission chief Zhang Jin and director Liu Yingzi have been fired for unspecified reasons and their roles would be filled by Wang Hesheng, a member of the provincial committee of the Communist Party, the source noted.

Since December 2019, a total of 31,728 people have been infected with coronavirus in Hubei (18,454 in Wuhan) with a population of approximately 59 million, 974 patients died (in Wuhan - 748). Last Monday, 2097 new cases of infection were recorded in Hubei, this is the lowest figure for nine days, Xinhua reported. During the day, 103 people died. The mortality rate in the province as a whole was 3.07%.
