YEREVAN. – The visit of His Majesty King Abdullah to Armenia is a historic one, President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian told reporters (PHOTOS).

This trip is historic not only because the King of Jordan is visiting Armenia for the first time but because friendship between the two states dates back to hundreds and even thousands of years, President Sarkissian said as he delivered a statement for the media.

“This case gives me a special opportunity to deliver my humble thanks to your nation and to your family because we all remember that your great grandfather who was the Sharif and Emir of Mecca one hundred years ago sent a manifesto to the Arab world. He was the one who asked Arabs to shelter those Armenians who survived the Armenian Genocide,” President Sarkissian said.

President of Armenia said they had a wonderful discussion about potential of cooperation starting from tourism and to education up to science, technology and security.
