YEREVAN. – The Special Investigation Service (SIS) of Armenia has launched a criminal case in connection with the incident between weightlifter and international referee Armen Ghazaryan and Yerevan police. SIS spokeswoman Marina Ohanjanyan stated this in response to an Armenian News-NEWS.am inquiry.

According to her, based on the materials prepared on the reports received by the SIS, a criminal case was initiated Thursday on the alleged torture of two people by a group of Yerevan police officials at a police precinct.
