Aragats Akhoyan, Arshak Zakaryan, Vahagn Chakhalyan, Tigran Chobanyan, and Israyel Hakobkokhyan, the five people who were detained on suspicion of attempting to seize the main building of the government of Armenia, were charged Friday under the Criminal Code article on attempting to seize a building by a group of persons—and with the prior consent. Hakob Sokhoyan, the attorney of former world boxing champion Israyel Hakobkokhyan, informed Armenian News-NEWS.am about this on Saturday.

"Israyel Hakobkokhyan does not accept the accusation made against him, the only thing that has to do with the reality is that he participated in the rally. The court session on his case started yesterday, but was adjourned; it will continue today at 20:00," Sokhoyan added.

Opposition activist Vahagn Chakhalyan's detention was declared illegal and the motion for his arrest was denied. "Mr. Chakhalyan was released by the court due to lack of reasonable doubt," said his lawyer Mikayel Shkhimyan.

Court hearings are scheduled Saturday to determine the pretrial measures for the other defendants in the case.

A group of citizens had held a protest at Republic Square in Yerevan demanding the resignation of PM Nikol Pashinyan. Subsequently, they had marched to the Prosecutor General's Office and demanded that the prosecutor general come out so they can submit to him their demand to arrest Pashinyan. But the prosecutor general had not come out, and these protesters had marched to the main government building, where clashes had taken place between them and the police, and a group of citizens had tried to enter this government building.
