YEREVAN. – Zhoghovurd newspaper of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes: According to Zhoghovurd daily’s information, a meeting of opposition leaders took place a few days ago.

We were informed that the meeting was attended by former RA Presidents Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan, PAP leader Gagik Tsarukyan, Homeland Party leader Artur Vanetsyan, ARF [Dashnaktsutyun] SB [Supreme Body] representative Ishkhan Saghatelyan, and HSM [(Homeland Salvation Movement)] candidate for prime minister, Vazgen Manukyan.

According to our information, during the meeting the issue of going for snap parliamentary elections with the current authorities on June 20 was discussed. We were informed that Vazgen Manukyan was especially upset, who stated that he was not going to run in the elections; moreover, he would continue the street struggle, through which he is sure he will be able to achieve the desired result.

In his speech, Vazgen Manukyan noted that the gathered forces did not use all their resources to dismiss RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, which is why today they have such a situation when it is Pashinyan who decides when and in what format they should go to the elections.

Moreover, Manukyan built his speech by insinuating that there were forces within them who negotiated with the authorities, took them into account, and that is why they lost.

Some of the [aforesaid opposition] leaders tried to assure Manukyan that only this way they could achieve a change of government, but Manukyan remained unwavering.

As for the format of running in the elections, the opposition leaders do not have a final decision. It seems that, except for the ARF and Robert Kocharyan, everyone believes that they should run in the elections separately. The ARF and Kocharyan will probably run [in the elections] with Kocharyan Bloc.
