Armenian Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe Arman Khachatryan met today with PACE President Tiny Kox, the Armenia in the Council of Europe Facebook page reported.

The message reads:

"During the meeting, Khachatryan stressed the important mission of PACE in protecting human rights, ensuring the strengthening of democracy and the rule of law in Europe, as a pan-European platform for political discussions".

The Resolution on "Activities of Democratic Institutions in Armenia," adopted in PACE winter session, was also highlighted, where it was affirmed that Armenia has considerable progress in democracy development. In this context, it was stressed that in the same resolution the Assembly reaffirmed the imperative of returning the Armenian prisoners of war, the necessity of preserving the spiritual and cultural heritage, as well as the necessity of having just and lasting solutions of Karabakh conflict within the framework of OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship.

Khachatryan briefed the PACE President on the humanitarian consequences of the war unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, including the repatriation of Armenian POWs and other detainees. The continuous role of PACE in raising and resolving these issues was also highlighted.
