The largest strike in a decade will take place in Britain on Wednesday, up to half a million people could come out to protest for higher wages.

Protests will be staged by hundreds of thousands of workers from different areas, according to British media reports, the strike will be the largest in a decade.

The main group of strikers will be employees of the education sector: more than 300,000 teachers will go on strike in England and Wales, demanding a pay rise amid the crisis in the country. It will be the largest teachers' strike in history, it will affect more than 23,000 schools. They will be joined by 70 thousand employees from 150 British universities.

Besides, at least 100,000 British civil servants will go to demonstrations on Wednesday, which will be the largest strike of public sector workers for many years. Employees from 123 organizations, including many ministries, government departments, agencies and offices will go on strike.

Tens of thousands of transport workers, particularly ASLEF drivers and RMT union members from 14 railway companies, will also demonstrate. The protests of transport workers will be supported by about 1.9 thousand bus drivers in London.
