Russia does not welcome Armenia's intention to join the Rome Statute, Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian President, told reporters, according to TASS.

"Armenia knows very well that we [i.e. Russia] are not in favor [of the Rome Statute], and Armenia is well aware of the hard-to-fit decision [by the International Criminal Court to order the arrest of Russian President Vladimir Putin], which was made on the basis of this statute. We know that this is very well known in Yerevan. This is not something that we welcome," said the Kremlin spokesman, referring to the relevant actions by Armenia.

Peskov added that Armenia's decision to ratify the Rome Statute is "extremely hostile" towards Russia.
