Representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry have discussed with the Mayor of Goris town in Armenia's Syunik province the prospects of opening Russia’s Consulate General as soon as possible. The press service of the Russian Embassy in Armenia reports.

"On September 28, 2023, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry's advance team for the opening of the Russian Consulate General in Kapan met with the mayor of Goris. They discussed the prospects of opening a new Russian consular office as soon as possible, which will significantly simplify the access of Russian citizens living in southern Armenia to consular services," reads a press release by the embassy.

The sides stated that the new Consulate General would contribute to the further strengthening of Russian-Armenian relations and stabilization of the situation in the region, it adds.
