Practically all residents of Nagorno-Karabakh could leave the region, fleeing the consequences of Azerbaijan's military operation. This concern was expressed by Robin Wagener, Coordinator for Intersocietal Cooperation with the Southern Caucasus of the German Federal Foreign Office, in an interview with Table.Media.
"For several days now, convoys of cars with tens of thousands of people have been moving along the road from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia," Wagener said, DW reports. "We should fear that in the coming days the vast majority of residents will join them, because of which Nagorno-Karabakh may be practically de-Armenianized."
Despite the ongoing peace talks with Armenia, Azerbaijan has pinned its hope on a military solution, emphasized Robin Wagener, a member of the Alliance 90/The Greens, which is part of the ruling coalition in Germany.
"Many of the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh no longer see their safe future in the region," he stated.
