Speaker Alen Simonyan of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia on Friday met with President Lauri Hussar of the Riigikogu (parliament) of Estonia, in Dublin, the NA informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.
He noted that Armenia greatly highlights the dynamically developing friendly relations with Estonia, which are based on mutual trust and core democratic values. The sides underscored the inter-parliamentary cooperation on the bilateral agenda, emphasizing the significant role of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups.
The Armenian NA speaker valued the visit of Estonia-Armenia Friendship Group designed in the near future, noting that these visits are needed in the difficult period full of challenges for our country.
The prospects of international parliamentary cooperation were discussed, too.
“Of course, I cannot but touch upon the issue of our compatriots forcibly displaced from Nagorno Karabakh. We have hundreds of victims and wounded because of large-scale attack of Azerbaijan. Baku implements policy of depopulation of Armenians from Nagorno Karabakh,” Alen Simonyan stressed.
In this regard, his Estonian colleague emphasized the need for a proper response by the international community, underscoring that the territorial integrity of Armenia is of priority to them.
