Culture and Tourism Director Hakan Doganay of Turkey’s Kars Province informed that the latter’s Saint Arakelots (Apostles) Armenian Church, which is at the focus of tourists, was turned into a mosque four times all through history.

But not mentioning “Armenian” or “Armenia,” Doganay stressed that the aforesaid church, which was built in 937 by the Armenian Bagratuni Dynasty and devoted to the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ, is currently used as a domed mosque, T24.com website of Turkey reports.

To note, there were rumors, after the last restoration at the church, that it could become  either a church or a museum. But, eventually, it was turned into a mosque, even though there are engraved crosses and the images of the apostles on the walls of the church.
