YEREVAN. – Head of Armenian Yazidi union said the 74th genocide against his nation is being perpetrated in Iraq's north.
Aziz Tamoyan said 1.3 million Yazidis live in Iraq, while 1,500 of them are fighting against Islamists.
“The goal of Islamists is to exterminate Yazidis. They are brutally killing women, children and elderly. They are vultures, cannibals who are killing a person for not being a Muslim,” Tamoyan said angrily.
Tamoyan noted that 1,500 armed Yazidis are fighting against Islamists in Sinjar, a town that is considered to be a capital of Yazidis. He recalled that people had left 70 Yazidi villages and escaped to the mountains.
Besides, Tamoyan said he is surprised by the actions of the United States: “if U.S. really wished to do something, they would solve the issue long ago”.
