ISTANBUL. – The Istanbul Chief Prosecutor’s Office completed the investigation into ten people who had carried signs that insulted the Armenians during the anti-Armenian demonstration, which was held in downtown Istanbul on February 26 and under the name of remembering 20th anniversary of the incidents in Khojaly.
The prosecution report notes that during the event the aforesaid suspects had committed the crime of sowing enmity and hatred among the people on the basis of the ethnic difference of a part of the people, and deliberately offending them with signs that read “You are all Armenians, you are all bastards!” and “An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth!”, Haberturk of Turkey informs.
The prosecution report demands 1-3 years imprisonment for those who carried such signs.
The trial will begin in the coming days.
