YEREVAN. – Some people try to discredit ruling coalition Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) leader Gagik Tsarukyan with the history of alleged weapon, Tsarukyan himself said during the meeting with Ararat region voters on Monday.

He however did not specify who or what political power desires to make a gap between him and the people, Aravot.am reports.

“I do not reject my pistol. However, it was not intended for people. I do love you,” Tsarukyan said.

Earlier Armenian News-NEWS.am posted a video where Tsarukyan kneed down during the election campaign on April 13, and a golden weapon was seen under his belt. Many resembled it with a pistol.   Tsarukyan’s spokesperson Khachik Galstyan rejected the rumors by claiming it not a weapon but a VERTU phone. While Armenia’s former FM, PAP member Vardan Oskanyan confirmed on April 18 that Tsarukyan indeed went for the campaign with a weapon and added that it is everybody’s right to carry it legally.

Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) is a political power included in the ruling coalition.

Founded by Armenian biggest businessman Gagik Tsarukyan, the party debuted in 2007 Armenian parliamentary elections, winning 29 seats in 131-seat Armenia’s National Assembly.

The proportional list of the party includes 165 names. PAP has also nominated MP candidates with the majority election system. Prosperous Armenia Party’s election campaign slogan is: “Believe, trust, demand!”
