The Azg (Nation) newspaper (Armenia), referring to Turkish sources reported that during his meeting with Recep Erdogan, in Washington, U.S. President Barack Obama warned the Turkish Premier that the U.S. Congress may recognize the Armenian Genocide if the Turkish Parliament fails to ratify the Armenian-Turkish protocols within a reasonable timeframe.

NEWS.am reminds readers that, this October, Senators Robert Menendez and John Ensign submitted a new Armenian Genocide resolution to the U.S. Senate.

On March 17, U.S. Congressman Adam Schiff submitted a new draft resolution on the Armenian Genocide, and 132 U.S Congress members have joined the initiative, with seven of them after the Armenian-Turkish protocols were signed in Zurich on October 10.

On April 19, 2009, Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, who has for almost 12 years been member of the U.S. Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues, reaffirmed her intention to contribute to the recognition of the Armenian Genocide and voiced her support for Resolution #252.

In their speeches, U.S. Vice-President Joseph Biden, and Director of the Central Intelligence Agency Leon Panetta defined the events in Ottoman Turkey in 1915 as genocide.
