December 15, 2009 NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen will pay a 3-day working visit to Moscow. This is his first visit to Moscow since his tenure of office.

Wednesday, Rasmussen will hold talks with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Premier Vladimir Putin, Interfax reports. NATO Secretary General will also meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

The situation in Afghanistan, missile defense issues, as well as Russia’s proposals for new European security architecture will be on agenda. Earlier NATO spokesman James Appathurai stated the alliance expects from Russia more assistance for Afghanistan, particularly in rebuilding of the country, Russian Mayak radio reports.

According to Rasmussen, he intends to discuss with RF President Dmitry Medvedev the resumption of relations between NATO and Russia, that were seriously affected by August 2008 events in Caucasus.
