Abdullah Gul met with his Israeli counterpart Shimon Peres in Copenhagen. The meeting was held in a friendly and cozy atmosphere, Turkish Gercekgundem website reports referring to Israeli Presidential Press Service.

According to the Israeli statement, Gul accepted Israeli President’s invitation to visit Israel, adding that Turkey is ready to exert efforts into the establishment of peace in the Middle East.

Abdullah Gul thanked his Israeli counterpart for conveying congratulations on the occasion of Turkey’s Republic Day.

This is the first meeting of the two Presidents since the exacerbation of Turkey-Israel relations.
