Georgian side filed an application to RF Ministry of Transport for resumption of air communication between Russia and Georgia.

Presently, Georgian side submitted the relevant documents for Ministry’s consideration, ITAR TASS reports referring to ministerial press service. The decision on the matter will be made in the near future.

The first flight is scheduled for December 26, GHN news agency reports referring to the representative of Airzena — Georgian Airways.

“The appropriate decision is already made in Georgia, whereas the Russian side will do so shortly,” air company representatives said.

Earlier, former Georgian Premier and leader of Movement for Fair Georgia Zurab Nogaideli stated that several Moscow-Tbilisi charter flights will be carried out on New Year eve.

Air communication between Georgia and Russia was suspended from August 9, 2008.
