No governmental talks on resumption of air transport between Russia and Georgia are held, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze stated, December 22, 2009.

According to her, the fact that Airzena Georgian Airlines applied to Russian Ministry of Transport for Tbilisi-Moscow charter and regular flights’ resumption, does not mean anything.

“These are the talks of a private company and are out of relation to Georgian authorities,” Kalandadze outlined.

Meanwhile, Kalandadze said that Georgian leadership “will be glad” and “will welcome” the aerial service restoration between the two states.

Asked whether Georgian authorities are ready to conduct official negotiations with Moscow on resumption of air communication, she replied that they are “ready for any talks, however the issue is not currently on the agenda”.
