Azerbaijan likely to send extra troops to Afghanistan

Azerbaijan might send extra troops to Afghanistan, reported Trend News, quoting First Vice-Speaker of the Azeri Parliament Ziyafet Askerov.

He said that at their latest meeting the NATO Foreign Ministers proposed enlarging the military contingent in Afghanistan.

Azerbaijan has not yet received any applications for sending extra troops to Afghanistan.

“If we receive such a request, we can consider it,” Askerov said.

Ninety Azerbaijani peacemakers serve in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan.
