December 25, 2009 Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov’s official visit to Turkey started.
According to official data, Mammadyarov will have meetings with his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu, Parliament Speaker Mehmet Ali Sahin, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and President Abdullah Gul.
The issues on the cooperation prospects between Azerbaijan and Turkey will be in the limelight in the course of the talks. The officials will exchange views on regional issues of mutual interest, including Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
“Azerbaijani Foreign Minister’s visit to Turkey will be a good opportunity in the context of political will expression at a high level, directed to the promotion of mutual understanding and solidarity,” Turkish Foreign Ministry report reads. According to some data, the protocol on lifting visa restrictions between the two states will be signed in the course of the visit.
