European Commission allocated €2m for preparatory work to cope with natural disasters to South Caucasian countries. According to the EU Armenian office, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia have to constantly struggle against landslides, mud flows, floods and earthquakes.
The funds will be provided by means of the EU humanitarian aid department, with Karel De Gucht (European Commissioner for Development & Humanitarian Aid) being in charge. The project foresees the coordination of national and regional agencies’ activities, training courses and creation of warning systems.
