Turkey recalled its Ambassador from Israel. Ankara demands apology from Israelis due to the discourteous way Turkish Ambassador was treated, BBC reports. The Ambassador was called to Ankara for consultations and may not return.

January 12, 2010 Turkish Ambassador to Israel Ahmet Oguz Celikkol met with Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon at Israeli Foreign Ministry. Turkish official was seated in a low armchair, while Ayalon was in much higher chair. Moreover, Ayalon did not give hand for a shake. At the meeting the Israeli official was tough, meanwhile Celikkol smiled politely waiting for translation and not knowing what the point was, Turkish Foreign Ministry reports. Thereafter, the Ambassador was invited to have a photo taken, however was not earlier informed of the reporters’ presence at the meeting.

The diplomatic demarche was incited by a series with Israeli intelligence spies in Valley of the Wolves, popular in Turkey. It depicts running operations to kidnap babies and convert them to Judaism, which irritated Jerusalem.

As NEWS.am reported previously, January 17, 2010 Israeli defense Minister Ehud Barak’s visit to Ankara is scheduled.
