Baku — the capital of three massacres of Armenians in 1905, 1918 and 1990, Director of Genocide museum Hayk Demoyan said at the event dedicated to 20th anniversary of massacres perpetrated in Baku.
According to him, the last phase of massacres was aimed at transforming Baku into capital of Azeris only. Thus, in 1990 not only Armenians but other nations residing in the city were exterminated. “Baku is a world champion on xenophobia. Azerbaijani authorities suffer from xenophobia so far, terrorizing their people with war,” Demoyan said.
Numerous massacres on national ground were perpetrated also in Sumgait twice — in 1956 and 1988. “As a result of all ethnic cleansings Azerbaijan turned into mono-national state without any ethnic minorities,” Demoyan emphasized. He recalled that 2010 is marked with fifth anniversary of violation of Armenian cemetery in Juga (Nakhchivan) though vandalism was not assessed properly by international community.
