In 2009 Armenia’s foreign debt/GDP ratio increased by 36%, the 2009 activity report by RA Ministry of Finance reads. Under the report, in 2008 the external debt/GDP ratio totaled 13.2%. The document says that over half of the debt was accumulated under the loan received for 35-40 years under the preferential terms (7-10 years). There will be no repayment of original amount within the mentioned period, whereas loan average annual interest rate made 0.8%.
In the end of 2009, RA internal debt totaled AMD 140.6 bn. Average maturity of a circulating bonds made 1391 days in 2009.Under the ministry estimate, internal debt will make 4.5% of GDP.
