Armenia 38th in 2010 Index of Economic Freedom

The U.S. Heritage Foundation, in cooperation with The Wall Street Journal, has released the 2010 Index of Economic Freedom.

The authors estimate the economic freedom in 179 countries. Such indices as business freedom, trade, fiscal and monetary policy, investment freedom, labor market and corruption are taken into account.

The countries are raked as “repressed” (less than 50 points), “mostly unfree” (50-60), “moderately free” (60-70), “mostly free” (70-80), and “free” (more than 80 points).

Armenia ranks 38^th (69.2), Azerbaijan 96^th (58.8), Russia 143^rd (50.3), Georgia 26^th (70.4), and Turkey 27^th (63.8).

Hong Kong (89.7), Singapore (86.1), Australia (82.6) and New Zealand (82.1) top the rankings.
