YEREVAN. – Those, who sustained injuries as a result of Thursday’s elevator accident that occurred in a newly constructed building in capital city Yerevan, are in stable condition, the “Armenia” Medical Center informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.  

According to the information provided, Gevorg Safaryan, 60, will be transferred to the convalescence room on Saturday, whereas Khachik Yepremyan, 45,—whose spleen was removed on Friday—will remain at the reanimation ward.

A criminal case is opened on charges of violation of the employment protection rules. A forensic medical examination is commissioned, and the circumstances of the incident are being investigated, the Police press service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.            

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) rescuers removed the bodies of the persons, who died as a result of the elevator accident.      

Also, the identities of the dead are ascertained. One was Husik Ohanyan, 52, and the other was an approximately-50-year-old man and, according to preliminary information, his name was Yura.

To note, the elevator’s cable had snapped from the building’s seventeenth floor and, as a result, the elevator had fallen on the persons who were working in the elevator shaft. MES had received this information on Thursday at 5:22pm. Also, it was found out that the elevator was not registered in the MES records and it had not undergone an inspection. Two died and two others sustained injuries in the mishap.
