YEREVAN.- The results of a regular stress tests at the Armenian NPP will be ready by May 2013, head of state committee regulating Armenia’s nuclear safety Ashot Martirosyan told reporters on Friday.

The first results will be presented to state committee in February-March 2013 then to be delivered to IAEA and the EU.

“Next week we will present a draft decree on new regulations to ensure safety of NPPs. Armenia, as a country having nuclear facilities, attaches great importance to safety after Fukushima disaster,” Martirosyan said.

Armenia launched stress tests back in 2011. As reported earlier, tests will be completed by 2012.  Martirosyan explained that EU’s delay was explained by procedure issues.

“All the documents are ready and we expect to finish work in due terms,” he concluded.
