YEREVAN.- Landing of Armenian plane in Turkey’s Erzurum city was a previously agreed step, member of ‘Help Your Brother’ initiative group Lilit Galstayn told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Her comments came as Turkish and Russian media rushed to make a fuss about grounding of the second Armenian plane.

“One should not look for a political scandal from scratch,” said Gaslstyan who is also a member of ARF Dashnaktsutyun party.

She said the plane with humanitarian aid on board left Yerevan on Thursday morning. According to the agreement with the Turkish side, if the airline company wishes for its aircraft to pass through Turkish airspace, its plane must land in a Turkish airport where its cargo will undergo inspection.

“We were not arguing as our main goal is to transport humanitarian aid to our compatriots and all the needy in Syria. The landing was not unexpected. It is not worth either commenting or seeking political dividends,” she emphasized.

Turkish and certain Russian media outlets called the landing “an imposed one”. Similar case was registered in mid October when Armenian plane landed in Erzurum for a routine inspection.
