At least eight snowbreaks fell on Transcaucasian highway on January 25, 2010. Currently, it is blocked for traffic starting 9p.m. Jan 24.

The slides of 70-80 cm shut the highway. Currently, the downfall impedes restoration of the traffic, ITAR-TASS reports referring to South Ossetian Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Despite the reduced visibility, road service officers are clearing up the roads, but no information about its opening is yet available, the ministry says, as there is a hazard of new avalanches.
