YEREVAN. – Armenian capital city Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan, who is in Lyon, France, at the invitation of Lyon Mayor, Senator Gérard Collomb, and to attend the events being organized within the framework of the Lyon Festival of Lights 2012, met with Collomb on December 8.
The Mayor of Lyon noted that Margaryan’s visit comes to yet again prove the high level of relations between Armenia and France and, in this context, between the sister cities of Yerevan and Lyon, Yerevan Municipality press service informs. Also, Collomb noted that these ties have perspectives for development, and assured that Lyon stands ready to further deepen these bilateral relations.
In his turn, Taron Margaryan noted that Yerevan Municipality likewise stands ready to enlarge these ties. He informed his French colleague that he held meetings with several people that are in charge of Lyon’s urban economy and made some arrangements. Noting that 2013 will mark the 20th anniversary of Yerevan and Lyon being declared sister cities, Margaryan invited Collomb to Armenia’s capital city.
Extending his thanks for this invitation, Gérard Collomb promised to pay an official visit to Yerevan next year.
Following their formal meeting, the Yerevan and Lyon mayors met with representatives of Lyon’s Armenian community. During the event, Taron Margaryan awarded Gérard Collomb with a medal, in recognition of his great contribution to deepening the partnership ties between Yerevan and Lyon.
