YEREVAN. – There is a conviction within the opposition bloc Armenian National Congress (ANC) that its leader, and First President, Levon Ter-Petrosyan will announce—during Saturday’s congress of the opposition Armenian National Movement (ANM) party—that he will run in the presidential elections to be held on February 18, 2013, 168 Zham daily reports.

“They claim that this matter can be considered 99 percent resolved. And why [will this announcement be made] in the ANM congress, and not in the ANC congress, since Ter-Petrosyan will be the candidate of the ANC? The explanation to this is that the matter of Ter-Petrosyan’s nomination was not discussed until recently because [Prosperous Armenia Party Chairman Gagik] Tsarukyan’s nomination was considered more likely, and, also, there would not have been much time to convene an ANC congress.  

It is also possible that the ANC congress is not held simply as to not to show what has actually left from this organization that was created in 2008,” 168 Zham writes.
