YEREVAN. – One-hundred Armenians from Syria have been provided with housing in Armenia, Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobyan said during a press conference on Monday.   

In her words, local residents have agreed to accommodate twenty more Syrian Armenian families free of charge.

In line with the Diaspora Ministry data, around 6,000 Syrian Armenians are in Armenia at present. 

“With the Government’s decision, we have facilitated the visa issues as much as possible for our compatriots. The visas are easily issued at the border and are extended,” she added.  

To note, 220 Syrian Armenians students currently receive education in Armenia’s institutions of higher education, and around 700 Syrian Armenian children go to preschools and schools in the country.
