The Central Election Commission of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that on December 25 the process of filing the presidential candidates’ applications begins. It will last until 6 pm. of January 4, and after that the registration of candidates begins, which will end on January 14. Note that the presidential elections in Armenia will be held on February 18, 2013.

At the recent congress the ruling Republican Party of Armenia nominated the incumbent president of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan as their presidential candidate. The leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party Gagik Tsarukyan refused to participate in the elections, and his party decided not to support anyone in the upcoming elections. The leader of Heritage Party Raffi Hovhannisyan decided to become a self-promoter. Today Armenian Revolutionary Federation will clarify its position as well.

A member of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) Hrant Bagratyan announced his nomination. However, he promised to abandon this intention if ANC leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan comes forward with his nomination. Levon Ter-Petrosyan has yet remained silent.
