YEREVAN. – The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) is closer to European standards than the other countries in the region, Regional Studies Center Director, political analyst Richard Giragosian said during a press conference on Wednesday.
In his words, the holding of high-level elections in NKR bespeak this. “[And] No petrodollar can change the state of things,” he noted.
Commenting on official Baku’s discontentment over the opening of the NKR capital city’s Stepanakert Airport, Giragosian considered such conduct as simply ridiculous.
To note, the Stepanakert Airport is put into operation, but flights are not conducted as of yet. And the prospect of resuming flights to and from the airport has caused hysteria in Azerbaijan, which regularly threatens to down—or forcibly land—the planes that will fly to the NKR capital city.
