YEREVAN. – The Government of Armenia will have to pay close to $45,000 as a result of the European Court of Human Rights’ (ECtHR) November 6 ruling against the country, and in connection with the “Vahanyan and Others v. Armenia” case. 

The Government on Thursday adopted a decision to pay €75,000, minus $32,000 and AMD 8 million (approx. $19,656), with the remaining amount being about $45,000.

The payment shall be made from the extra-budgetary account of the Armenian Ministry of Finance.

To note, the aforesaid case refers to a disagreement during the 2004-2005 constructions in Armenia. The ECtHR had ruled that the Government had not allocated a fair compensation to the proprietors of the buildings which it had declared eminent domain.
