YEREVAN. – A total of 111 Syrian Armenian students that study in Armenia received Friday reimbursements for their tuition fees.   

To note, the Government of Armenia had allocated AMD 40 million (approx. $98,284) to the Youth Foundation of Armenia to reimburse the tuition fees of these students. 

PM Tigran Sargsyan himself handed the reimbursement certificates to the Syrian Armenian students. He noted that the Government has launched several activities that aim to resolve the problems which Syrian Armenians face.    

“I am happy that we already have hundreds of Syrian Armenian students in Armenia. This program has the objective of assisting the Syrian Armenians students, so they can surmount the temporary difficulties much easier. We will always be with you,” the PM noted.    

In line with this program, all Syrian Armenians that study at Armenia’s institutions of higher education will receive reimbursements for their tuition fees.  

Also, a similar program will be launched for Armenia-resident students. The Government has allocated AMD 60 million (approx. $147,426) to the Youth Foundation of Armenia for this purpose. 

In his turn, Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan noted that his ministry was be able to promptly and comprehensively respond to the developments related to Syrian Armenians.    

“Numerous mechanisms are introduced to meet the needs of Syrian Armenians. We are prepared to carry out a similar action next year for local and Syrian Armenian schoolchildren and [university] students,” the minister noted.
